This year I am going to be doing some blog posts with last years couples on their favourite photos and why. I always love doing these kinds of posts and didn’t seem to get the time to do the same last year (so if any of my 2018 couples wish to join in please just let me know as I’d love to do these for you too!)
I’m going to start off the series with Justine and Allan and their wonderful wedding at Haughley Park Barn last April.
Justine and Allan are so lovely and replied so quickly telling me how much they love their photos and were only too happy to look through them again and choose some which I really appreciate.
Here’s a handful of Justine’s favourites together with her reasons why (reasons first with the relevant photo below):
‘I really love this photo as it wasn’t posed, Dad was just waiting for us girls faffing around with our make up! We love the fact that our close family had a fantastic day just as we did.’
‘Again, we were not aware of this photo being taken, it is very natural. I was so excited to be heading over to the ceremony room with my bridesmaids and pageboy in tow. Shannon my sister holding my dress as we walked. This photograph also shows off the colour scheme we chose for our special day.’
‘It was really lovely to be able to involve our two nephews in our day as pageboys and Freddy handing over the rings meant a lot to me. This is a fantastic photograph that he can look back on in years to come.’
‘One of the main reasons we chose Haughley Park as our venue was the grounds and the reason we chose the date we did was down to the bluebells! In the weeks leading up to our day I remember contacting Hayley and Janice to see if the bluebells were making an appearance. We were very lucky they were in full bloom on the 20th April. Also, going off to the bluebell woods gave us some alone time which was just perfect.’
Allan’s favourites were as follows:
‘This is a much loved photo by our family. Grandson and Grandad walking in sync in their suits. A very special photo we will treasure.’
‘As we walked around the grounds with Hayley, I mentioned how I liked this particular tree and Hayley suggested a photo. This was a very random, on the spot photo that has turned out to be one of our total favourites. The scale of the tree is just magical.’
‘This is one of our favourite photographs and everyone has a little giggle when they see it. Hayley really was incredible with the 2 boys all day. Freddy was running to catch a toy tractor in this picture and Hayley captured it perfectly!’
‘The colours on this photograph gets us every time. The amazing blue sky, yellow rape seed field and the green grass really shows off the fantastic weather we had, on Easter weekend too! We were very lucky.’
Such lovely comments and I’m always interested as to which ones will be favourites for our couples as time goes on.
Here are some of our favourites from their day (I had to restrict myself from choosing too many!)
I love this one for the excitement and nerves on Allan’s face before Justine arrived for the ceremony
This next one for me just captures the beautiful surroundings, the spring blossom and them relaxing and talking about their day
I adore the next couple of photos for showing how they are as a couple and how happy they make each other (I also love a trip up to the Bluebells when they’re in flower)
I always like to get the stunning venue in somewhere even if it’s just in the background to show where their day happened. These sorts of photos are rarely my couples favourites but are often the ones that appear in parents/grandparents homes and I think it’s important to have a few shots like that taken during a wedding day to make sure everyone afterwards is happy (they only take a very short minute or less to do).
This last one for me is just some beautiful evening light where they are alone (apart from me) and they reflect on their day. You can see couples visibly more relaxed by the evening and evening photos tend to have a different feel to them which I love.
Hope you’ve enjoyed reading this and looking at some photos from their day … lots more couples to come over the next few months!
