Well, the most exciting news of the year for me so far by a long way is that I finally got to photograph a wedding!!!! Yipppeeee!!! I think I may have been a little over-excited about this but it was so wonderful to be back doing what I love and with such a lovely couple too.
So at the beginning of October, I photographed Lisa and Chris’ tiny wedding at Hintesham Hall. There was only 6 of them in total (them and both sets of parents) and it was an absolutely beautiful day to be a part of. I started with them getting ready in the Braganza Suite where the fabulous Karen (of Karen’s Beautiful Brides) was doing Lisa’s hair and the equally talented and amazing Emma (of Pretty Faces) was doing her make-up. I love working with these two ladies as they always deliver gorgeous hair and make-up, are lovely people, and are a pleasure to work alongside.
There was a slight hiccup to the day, the registrars had got the time wrong and thought the ceremony was an hour later than it was but, when Zoe at Hintlesham gave them a call to check where they were they left immediately and were only half an hour late which with such small numbers we could all work with.
I did this wedding on my own (I suspect this will be the case for a lot of weddings whilst the 15 limit applies as 2 of us isn’t really needed for these kinds of numbers) and we were all so lucky with the weather … it had rained continuously for days in the run-up, then it cleared for their day with sun and blue sky, before going back to rain the day after. It was harder working with a mask on all day but, it’s a small price to pay to be back photographing a wedding and hopefully the laughter lines (some may say wrinkles) around my eyes let them know I was smiling!
Lisa looked so beautiful in her dress and Chris was equally as handsome in his suit. These two make a gorgeous couple and even though they’ve been together a long time it was clear to see the love and affection between them and that they’re excited to be going on this next part of their journey together.
As I haven’t written one of these posts in a while I feel like I could chat to you about their day for hours but, I’m going to try to stop myself and instead show you some of the highlights from their day in the photos below.
A quick note to those of you out there planning a wedding, just because you are having a small day doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t have a photographer there … hopefully you’ll see that from the photos and next week I’ll write up their glowing testimonial they sent me through after seeing their photos.
Enjoy ….
