• Welcome

Well hello there and welcome to Hayley Denston Photography. We are Suffolk Wedding Photographers who live in a little village on the Suffolk/Norfolk Border. We travel as far and wide as we can to photograph weddings although we mainly photograph weddings in Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex. Our fingers are crossed that you've either found us through a personal recommendation or whilst looking for a wedding photographer in Suffolk, Norfolk or Essex. If not, perhaps you were simply having a browse for a Suffolk portrait photographer (as we do that too) or even just Suffolk wedding photography.

However you've arrived at our website we're pleased you're here and hope that you've got a few minutes (together with a cuppa and a biscuit) to have a look through our photos. We hope that you love what you see and that we'll get to meet and photograph you in the future.

Well, it really is all go here with the website and I’ve been keeping very busy. The main slideshow on our Wedding Galleries page has been updated as have all of the individual galleries on this page. They should now all be in a fit state for viewing. If we photographed your wedding in the last two years there’s a strong chance you may just see some of your photos!

As with the main website slideshow (which I replaced a few days ago) I was sad to see a few of the old wedding ones go. Perhaps I’m getting overly sentimental in my old age and it’s easy to forget that when we look at the photos we’ve taken we remember other things about the day such as great speeches, laughter, a shared joke etc. It does help to remind me that this is what we try to achieve in our photographs, we want you to look at the image and feel the emotion of the person photographed without having been to their day. We also want it to bring all the memories and emotions flooding back for our couples whose days we’ve photographed. If we can achieve this then we’re very happy!

Right, back to the website work. I still have lots to do on various other pages (my little black book, testimonials and wedding venues) and sections (portraits will be looked at really soon) which are all yet to be updated.

I’ll write again when there’s some more to share with you, in the meantime if you have a spare moment to look through the galleries we’d love to know what you think. Also, whilst I’m working on the website if any of you have any thoughts on extra information you’d like to see on here that would be helpful to you please let me know.

A lot of people ask what we get up to in the winter months when we have less weddings and portraits to photograph. The truth is there is quite a bit of maintenance work that gets neglected during our busier months and one of these areas is definitely the website. We work on the website ourselves (rather than outsourcing to other people) and therefore finding the time to work on it can be tricky and a long process. We like keeping the images on the site as current as we can so that you can see work we’ve recently photographed rather than that of a few years back.

All the photographs you have been looking at in the galleries and on the links have been weddings from 2012 and 2013. I know our blog stories have all our current weddings and portraits on but, it’s nice to see these photos in the main galleries too. Obviously we want you to see lots of our 2014 and 2015 weddings and so over the next few weeks all the galleries will be having face lifts with new photos added.

Today I have just finished our new home page images and uploaded these for you all to see. Whilst it’s lovely looking at all of our recent weddings I always feel a little sad removing the old photos that hold some fantastic memories for us. To that end I’ve decided to add the old home page ones to this post here just so I can still come back and look at them from time to time. If you fancy a look at the older ones just click on the link below to look at those photographs. If you’d rather look at the new recent ones then please sit back and enjoy the slideshow at the top of this page.

As I update all the wedding and portrait galleries over the next few weeks I’ll keep you posted via the blog so you’ll know what’s new to have a look at.

If we photographed your wedding or portrait session in the last couple of years who knows you may even see yourselves on here!

One section that has had no attention at the moment (I am intending to do it I promise) is the testimonials. I will start going through all the lovely thank you messages and cards that we’ve received and are incredibly grateful for and will write lots of these up. If we have photographed you recently and you do fancy writing us one though (and haven’t already) and you’d like to appear in the testimonials section please let me know!

Another favourites post today from an April wedding we photographed last year. April was a particularly good month last year for weddings and I’m hoping this year will be the same. This next wedding is Sue and Mike’s intimate day which took place at The Westleton Crown near the Suffolk Coast. This was a stunning day and I’m so glad we got to capture it for them. Here’s a link to their entire day in case you’d like to read about it.

Sue chose me the following photo because:

‘It captured our happiness perfectly. When I think back this is the image that comes to mind, the informal, relaxed wedding in a lovely Suffolk Inn with family and friends’

Mike chose the following photo because:

‘For me it is the culmination of a fantastic day, both so relaxed and happy’

SM300415---073eo

I chose the following photo because for me it captures the happiness, giggles and relaxed atmosphere

This next favourites post is from Ed and Christina’s Wedding which took place on a gorgeous afternoon in April last year. Their reception took place at Haughley Park Barn and the weather was warm enough for some photos outside in the gorgeous gardens. Here’s a quick link to their entire blog story in case you fancy a read of it. It was such a beautiful day with gorgeous people, I hope all our weddings this year are as brilliant as this day (I am hopeful they will be as I know we’ve got some fantastic days lined up!).

Christina chose me two of her favourites for the following reasons:

‘I think this photo captures the fun we had on our wedding day’

CE180415---210bw CE

‘We both look really happy here (think I am about to do a big cackling laugh – there were lots of those that day’!

CE180415---235 CE

Ed also chose me two of his favourite and both were taken during his little brother’s best man speech. For the following reasons:

‘Both the photos capture a moment that really caught the atmosphere and feeling of the event: lots of laughter and happiness. I’ve always preferred the more informal photographs, as I think you get to see more of people’s personalities in them and these two are perfect examples of this.’

‘This photo is of my university mate Dave, who is trying to take photos of the moment himself, but just can’t quite concentrate due to unavoidable giggles’

CE180415---466 - ED

‘The second is a similar affair, with dad chorting heartily at one of Harry’s tales about me and Mum looking suitably embarrassed.’

CE180415---469 ED

I struggled to chose for this day and probably the blog story sums up a lot of my favourites. I went for the following confetti one because I just love how relaxed and fun it was and it captures for me how their day was.

Well this was always going to be a fairly easy blog post for me to write as Christian is David’s brother and he got married to Helen last July which was a very special day for us to be a part of. If you’d like to read about their entire day just click here. There wedding has to be one of the wettest July days we have ever been a part of in the ten years we’ve been photographing weddings and yet it was a gorgeous day despite plans having to change at the last minute (initially it was going to be a picnic in the Abbey Gardens in Bury). I could choose many photos from this one as obviously they have a lot of family members in so it was tricky to decide. In the end I’ve chosen one with my nephew and niece watching their parents getting married (see the last photo below).

Helen’s favourite (and if she hadn’t have chosen this one it would have been the one I would have chosen as well as Christian’s so it’s a winner all round) is the following photo because:

‘ I chose and love this picture, taken mid-way through our joint wedding and naming ceremonies, because for me it captures a very relaxed way, what the day was all about – celebrating our lovely family.’

HC240715---147 HE

Christian’s favourite (after the above one) was the following because:

‘ It captures our children perfectly – absolutely lovely, if a little bit cheeky!’

HC240715---070 C

My favourite was the one below whilst the children quietly sat and watched their mum and dad get married
