• Welcome

Well hello there and welcome to Hayley Denston Photography. We are Suffolk Wedding Photographers who live in a little village on the Suffolk/Norfolk Border. We travel as far and wide as we can to photograph weddings although we mainly photograph weddings in Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex. Our fingers are crossed that you've either found us through a personal recommendation or whilst looking for a wedding photographer in Suffolk, Norfolk or Essex. If not, perhaps you were simply having a browse for a Suffolk portrait photographer (as we do that too) or even just Suffolk wedding photography.

However you've arrived at our website we're pleased you're here and hope that you've got a few minutes (together with a cuppa and a biscuit) to have a look through our photos. We hope that you love what you see and that we'll get to meet and photograph you in the future.

When the bluebells were in flower at Haughley Park Barn I met up with Vicky and Chris whose wedding we’d photographed a couple of years ago (just click here if you’d like to read about it) for a portrait session.

Vicky and Chris have added to their family since their wedding day and now have the beautiful Bella-Rose who I got to meet and photograph. With such chilled out and happy parents she was always going to be a delight and I thoroughly enjoyed spending a morning with them.

I love their photos and here are just a small selection. Thank you Vicky and Chris for allowing me the privilege of staying in your lives and capturing your evolving story, it was a real treat and I hope to see you all again in the future x

We’re on a roll now and our next wedding to share with you is the gorgeous Greg and Chris’ day which took place at The White Hart, Great Yeldham at the end of April. Greg and Chris’ booking had been in my diary for ages and after meeting them and doing a pre-wedding shoot with them last autumn I was itching for their day to arrive. These two are a wonderful couple who compliment each other so well, they are both very easy to get along with and their day flowed beautifully.

This was another day where loads of thought had been put in to their finishing touches including their homemade jam and chutney’s as favours and seeds for people to grow. Each table had a twig tree (I’m not describing that very well) as a centre piece which looked elegant and different to the usual flowers. They also had little name place settings made out of wood which were really cute. The key men all had funny face socks on that when lined up made me laugh (one of the photos of these is in the selection below – it looks like one pair of socks is cross with all the others!). The cake looked scrumptious and all the games for the children went down really well.

Both Greg and Chris looked handsome in their suits and very well co-ordinated!

We were blessed with the weather again and thankfully this allowed Greg and Chris to have the outdoor ceremony they wanted. These two are really special and we hope that we’ll see them again in the future, we’re convinced that they’ll have a lot of good times ahead of them and we hope we may be a part of some of them!

We must apologise that with everything going on we’ve got a little behind with our blogging. Today’s wedding we’re sharing is Babz and James’ fantastic day which took place at the beautiful Bateman’s Barn which is a lovely local venue near us – thank you to Nicole and John who own Bateman’s Barn for making us so welcome.

Babz and James are a couple who are an absolute joy to be around and we couldn’t wait for their day, their booking came about through a recommendation by Becky and Guy whose wedding we photographed previously and it was lovely to see them both too to have a catch up. After the cold spring we’d had it was wonderful that the sun (and heat) made an appearance for their day and the blossom trees in front of the Hall were in full flower. Just to top it all off we also had an amazing sunset!

There was so much to love about this relaxed and chilled out day that I fear I could talk about it for a really long time. The daffodils injected some gorgeous colour to the barn, the marquee looked beautiful with all the bunting and their DIY photobooth was awesome. The cake looked incredible (and I can confirm tasted scrummy) and the caterers food (Funnells kitchen) was delicious. We were also entertained by the fabulous Scintillo String Quartet who played fantastically as always (and even played me ‘Tale as Old As Time’ from Beauty and the Beast – not sure it’s called that but that’s what I sing!). Then there’s Babz and James themselves who are brilliant and clearly adored by all their friends and family and it’s not hard to see why.

Babz looked beautiful in her dress, I loved the fuller skirt to it and James looked every bit as handsome. They both didn’t stop smiling at each other (and everyone else) all day.

We hope that Babz and James have a lifetime of happiness ahead of them and that our paths will cross again in the future.

April was a very busy month for weddings for us and the next one we photographed was Claire and Sam’s enchanting day which took place at Haughley Park Barn. This was a day filled with lots of love, laughter and a fair few children running around so it was great that the weather was sunny for us for most of the reception time allowing us to be outside and the children to enjoy the bouncy castle!

I started with Claire getting ready over in the Farmhouse and it was great to see the very talented Rachel at Defining Radiance doing the make up and the equally talented Karen (at Karen’s Beautiful Brides) doing their hair. David started over at the barn with Sam and the boys arriving. The ceremony involved a fairly long procession of bridesmaids, flowergirls and a pageboy which was great. It’s always lovely to also see the registrars from Stowmarket as they make the ceremony personal and are all so great.

For most of the reception we were outside enjoying garden games, the bouncy castle and drinks and canape’s supplied by Tina and her team at Crossways Farm Caterers  (they always produce scrummy food and we love working with them).

Claire looked radiant and beautiful in her fitted dress which had a stunning back to it and train. Sam looked equally as handsome in his suit and the two of them are quite clearly a very well suited couple.

The Spring was still behind a little for flowering plants but we managed to find a lot of gorgeous areas of Haughley to use including the beautiful Camellias that were in flower. (you’re always spoilt for choice at this venue which is one of the reasons we love working here … Janice, Ellie and all the staff who work here are also a joy to work alongside!).

There were so many beautiful finishing touches to this day including a cake table with lots of delicious cakes on and a wedding cake that was made and put together by one of Claire’s bridesmaids.

We love the photos from this day and are delighted that you all love them as much as we do. Here’s a small selection to look at from their day

Our next April wedding was Amber and Joe’s day. This was another one that we’d been looking forward to ever since we first met Amber and Joe as they’re such a sweet, happy and lovely couple so we were delighted when they booked us to share in their day. This wedding was a meeting of two families from either side of the world. Amber is from Australia and Joe is from England so there were a lot of family and friends who came over from Australia which was fab. We did feel sorry for the Australians though when instead of being greeted by a lovely warm spring day they were met with cold, wind, rain and grey skies, it must have been extra chilly for them as they’d come from very warm weather, they were all in good spirits though and smiled and enjoyed the day regardless of what the weather threw at us!

Their ceremony took place at St John’s church in Ipswich and it was beautiful. Their pastor kindly let me stand at the front and David at the back of the church so we could get photos from both angles which was brill. We then came out for confetti and I honestly don’t think we have ever seen such a range (all provided by the couple) or such a mass throwing which was so much fun! They then had an afternoon tea in the Church Hall before heading on to their wedding breakfast at Jimmy’s Farm. We had planned to take some photos at Nacton Shores on the way to their reception but when we got down there it was very wet, cold and windy so we literally took a couple of shots and then moved on to Jimmy’s Farm but I do secretly love the photos that were taken down at Nacton Shores as Amber continues to grin away whilst Joe grimaces – they make me laugh everytime I look them (in a good way and I know they make them smile too!).

Amber’s dress had come all the way over from Australia and it was very different, it fitted her like a glove and she looked beautiful. I personally think it’s one of the most beautiful dresses I’ve ever seen! It was also touching that despite being heavily pregnant Amber’s bestfriend came over from Australia to be her bridesmaid! It just shows how loved this couple are that people wanted to travel half way round the world to be a part of their day. Joe looked handsome in his suit and you could see all his nerves melt away as soon as Amber came up the aisle and stood by his side.
