• Welcome

Well hello there and welcome to Hayley Denston Photography. We are Suffolk Wedding Photographers who live in a little village on the Suffolk/Norfolk Border. We travel as far and wide as we can to photograph weddings although we mainly photograph weddings in Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex. Our fingers are crossed that you've either found us through a personal recommendation or whilst looking for a wedding photographer in Suffolk, Norfolk or Essex. If not, perhaps you were simply having a browse for a Suffolk portrait photographer (as we do that too) or even just Suffolk wedding photography.

However you've arrived at our website we're pleased you're here and hope that you've got a few minutes (together with a cuppa and a biscuit) to have a look through our photos. We hope that you love what you see and that we'll get to meet and photograph you in the future.

Our congratulations go out today to Rachel and Phil whose wedding we photographed at The Tudor Barn last year. We hope that you celebrate your first wedding anniversary today with your gorgeous little boy. You’re a lovely little family and your day was a pleasure to be a part of. If you’d like to read about their day (and see some beautiful photos) just click here.

Happy anniversary lovelies!

A short blog post today. If you don’t want the traditional reception drinks or canapees and are looing for something different for your wedding breakfast here are just a few ideas we’ve seen recently

I especially love the afternoon tea canapees (as I have a sweet tooth so this appeals to me), a Thai Green Curry for your main wedding breakfast and a fish and chip van or pizza for your evening food  …… mmmmmm!

I’m diverting from weddings for this post today to briefly show you some photos of our little rescue dog Ansel who has been with us 6 months today. I’m not going to lie, it’s been hard work to get to this stage but so worth it. He’s developing and changing every day and becoming the most beautiful little dog. We love him heaps and tonnes and will continue to see him as a work in progress, but if he can come this far in 6 months with a little patience and understanding just think where we’ll be in a year!

Thank you to Vanda at Noahs Ark for rescuing this gorgeous little soul, we can’t believe he had to spend the first year of his life in kennels because no one fell in love with this little face. For those of you thinking of getting a dog please consider adoption (I know this is down to personal choice), he may not be a breed but he’s definitely unique and beautiful and there’s unlikely to be another one like him ever! We may not be able to change a lot in this world but for our dog (and all rescues) you change their whole life when they had a limited future ahead of them.

Here’s some photos of him taken recently and I promise I’ll write up some wedding posts from next week onwards as there’s a lot of beautiful weddings to share with you.

I absolutely love confetti so I would have to answer to the question ‘What do you think about confetti at Weddings?’ with ‘Please have loads of it’ as this is one of my favourite moments on a wedding day.

I love Confetti and the happiness on both our couples faces as well as the guests. Petal confetti is my favourite and I particularly like fresh petals (something we don’t see so often) as it is obviously biodegradable so no harm is done to the environment and you can have oodles of it! It also looks really pretty in the photos. Over the years we’ve had some confetti heavy (so many baskets of confetti) wedding days and I love them!

We see all sorts of packaging for confetti (I’ve put lots of examples in the photos), personally I like big baskets full of petals where guests just take a handful and there’s no waste to think about afterwards.

The majority of the confetti we see is dried petals. We do occasionally see Lavendar but this tends to see my couples flinching more when it hits them and reporting that it’s a little scratchy when it’s down their clothes. We also see Paper Confetti but where we do it tends to be in much more pastel colours and mainly in baby pink and white.

Enough chatting again from me, here’s some confetti photos for you to look at which will hopefully make you want to have confetti on your days!

This post today is all about cake and it was always bound to make me feel hungry!

We see a huge range of cakes these days and it seems to be that we very rarely see a traditional white iced, 3 tier fruit cake. I think that’s a good thing though, I love fruit cake but I also love a nice sponge in all the flavours imaginable (I’ve yet to find a flavour I don’t like and am hoping that day never comes as it would be a sad day indeed!).

Here’s some of the beautiful and unique cakes (and other takes on the traditional cake such as macaroons) that we’ve seen – each cake I could tell you a story about but won’t as I realise this would then become a really long post.

Enjoy looking at them but probably best to eat something before you begin 🙂
