• WELCOME

Well hello there and welcome to Hayley Denston Photography. We are Suffolk Wedding Photographers who live in a little village on the Suffolk/Norfolk Border. We travel as far and wide as we can to photograph weddings although we mainly photograph weddings in Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex. Our fingers are crossed that you've either found us through a personal recommendation or whilst looking for a wedding photographer in Suffolk, Norfolk or Essex. If not, perhaps you were simply having a browse for a Suffolk portrait photographer (as we do that too) or even just Suffolk wedding photography.

However you've arrived at our website we're pleased you're here and hope that you've got a few minutes (together with a cuppa and a biscuit) to have a look through our photos. We hope that you love what you see and that we'll get to meet and photograph you in the future.

To end our 2017 weddings off we photographed the gorgeous Charlotte and Josh’s day at Woodhall Manor. Ever since our first e-mail and meeting them in the Spring for their pre-wedding shoot (just click here to see some of their photos from that) I knew we would love this day and we did. These two are such a fantastic, chilled out couple who are always smiling and happy. Their entire day took place at Woodhall Manor and we were joined by Steve and James at Steve Hood Weddings (we love working with Steve (and James) who are always a pleasure and a really good match with a similar style to us – if you’re looking for a videographer/s we’d thoroughly recommend them) whose video we can’t wait to see.

The flowers for this wedding were stunning and produced by Beverley at Jades Flowers. I love a bright colour scheme for late autumn and winter weddings as it just adds that little extra something when the days are often grey and there’s not many flowers! I don’t ever think I’ve seen more flowers adorning a top table and they looked awesome in the speech photos (I’ve included some below)! It was a cold and windy November day and we were limited with light but thankfully it was a dry and everyone was very kind to us braving the cold for a few group shots and some confetti.

Charlotte looked stunningly beautiful and she could have pulled off any style of outfit, her fitted dress was gorgeous and her bouquet perfect. Josh looked dashing in his suit. There was a very little blip with the buttonhole (he wore his mum’s corsage for the early photos and ceremony by accident which we thought was funny and an easy mistake) but if that’s the only thing to go a little off plan on your wedding day that’s not bad! They make a wonderful couple and we are certain that these two will have a long and happy marriage ahead of them and we really hope that we’ll see them again in the future.

Here’s a quick look at their day

A quick post today to update you all on our Christmas opening times and to wish you all a very Happy Christmas. This year we are not working over the Christmas period (we try to keep every other year just for us and friends and family) so will be closed from the 24th December through to the 8th January.

If you need us urgently please do call and leave a message or send us an e-mail and we will get back to you as soon as we can. If your message isn’t urgent we will reply fully when we’re back on the 8th January although the chances are I will pick up e-mails some days during that first week of January.

An absolutely massive thank you to all of you who we’ve photographed this year, it wouldn’t have been such a wonderful year without you and we’ve enjoyed every minute of sharing in your wedding days and portrait sessions. As another year is coming to a close we’ll be looking back on this years weddings and choosing our favourites to add to the galleries early on in the New Year. We’ll also be looking forward to all the brilliant weddings (and portraits) we’ve got planned in the diary for 2018 and beyond! 2018 is shaping up to be another busy year for us and we are almost fully booked (with no availability at all left in July and August!) which is wonderful.

As those of you who read the blog regularly will know we have a border collie called Pip who is now a very old girl (12 and a half).  Every year we endeavour to take her Christmas photo in front of the tree with mixed results! She hates having her photo taken and as she gets older she’s got more and more stubborn at refusing to look at the camera. We thought we’d try a new technique this year and try to capture her on our phones instead. Needless to say the shutter speed is a lot slower, she knew exactly what we were trying to do and there were a lot of bloopers! Please excuse the quality but here are a few for you to have a look/laugh at!

From the three of us here we hope that you all have a very Happy, Healthy, Restful and Merry Christmas and we hope to see you soon!

We even tried to get some in the snow which she adores but she just wanted to play!

Our last Haughley Park Barn Wedding for this year was Louise and Alex’s day which took place in late October. This was a stunning day to be a part of and the change of colours in the foliage was just awesome. Although it did rain for some of the day this didn’t stop us from wandering around the grounds or being outside for photos. Louise got ready at Stowlangtoft Cottages nearby with her girls and it was at this stage that the Harry Potter themes started to come in with some gorgeous onesies that all the girls had on! I loved the Harry Potter details to this day and have included lots of them in the photos for you to look at.

Whilst I was with the girls David started with Alex and the boys arriving for their ceremony at Woolpit Church. Woolpit Church is another one of our favourite churches to work at as Ruth (the vicar) gives a wonderful, personal ceremony as well as kindly allowing us to take photos. It was then back to Haughley for the reception. This is the first time we’ve seen a cake cut immediately on arrival so that it can be served as canapes and I must say it worked really well.

Louise looked stunning in her dress and I love the fuller skirt which was so pretty. Alex looked dashing in his navy suit and they were both so happy all day.

The meal was provided by Tina and her staff at the fabulous Crossways Farm Caterers and as always was incredibly yummy (these are our favourite caterers to work with if you might be looking for recommendations!) and in the evening we had a Ceilidh which got everyone up and dancing.

These two are a wonderful, happy, relaxed couple who we a certain will have a long and happy marriage ahead of them. Here’s a small peep at their day

In the middle of October we photographed the gorgeous Gill and Roger at their wedding at Cratfield Church. This was a small and intimate wedding where we were asked to just photograph the actual ceremony and a few groups afterwards which was a real change for us (as we usually photograph for lots of hours rather than a few) but a nice treat to do something different. It also helped that we’d photographed at Cratfield Church earlier this year and the vicar (David) is awesome there. He gives a lovely service as well as being kind to us and allowing us to take photos which is greatly appreciated by both us and our couples!

There was an autumnal theme running through their day and I love the colours in their photos. The bright orange buttonhole and the colours in the flowers was just gorgeous. It was a treat to photograph them all and we were honoured to be part of such a small wedding.

Gill looked beautiful in her fitted dress and she was walked down the aisle by her son, Roger looked handsome in his suit and one of his daughters was the bestwoman!

One of the highlights of this day that we won’t forget in a long time was during the confetti when Gill’s son accidentally threw the confetti cone at them (I’ve included the sequence of photos in the images below as they make me smile every time I look at them).

These two are a wonderful couple who we wish a lifetime of happiness for. Here’s a small peep at their day

Quick post today to try to stay up-to-date before Christmas. Last Friday night I had the pleasure of attending a Christmas Wreath Making workshop run by Kaye (with Sandra helping) from Kaye Souter Flowers.

This has become one of those traditions for me where I can relax and start to enjoy the festive period without worrying too much about work. I could probably make one of these on my own now but I love going to these workshops instead, getting some help (why am I always the one who gets the wires tangled!) and having a nice chit-chat. Kaye was very patient with us all and Sandra had made some sausage rolls and the best mince pies I have ever tasted! Despite being a little sleepy (trust my sister and I to think it was a good idea to have a 3 course dinner before hand with the boys and then not feel that Christmas dinner sleepy feeling!) we had a wonderful time.

I’m really pleased with the result which is now hung on our front door! I’ve included a quick photo below together with one of my sister and I at the workshop …. I love Christmas!
