At the end of July we photographed Hannah and Carl’s lovely wedding day at The Old Hall in Ely. This was one of those days where it would have been ideal to have sunshine all day as they were really hoping for an outdoor ceremony but sadly, the heaven’s opened about 15 minutes before their ceremony time we had to be indoors for the ceremony instead. Despite this, it was still a gorgeous ceremony and the rain did clear up for us as the afternoon went on so we could get outside during the reception time to do all their group shots. The good weather then stayed with us and we had some lovely evening light to do their couple photographs after dinner.
Hannah and Carl are a lovely, relaxed couple who’ve been together a long time and have two gorgeous little girls (who were flowergirls). Hannah had put an awful lot of time and effort into all the little details and the marquee and everything looked stunning. The sweets table had a candy big wheel (which we’ve never seen before) and instead of a guest book they had a very interesting wooden frame where guests wrote on little wooden hearts and then dropped them in the top, very unusual and a unique way of recording who was at their day. The favours (for the adults) were little bottles or Sloe Gin and Sloe Vodka which were a stunning pinky/red colour. Which gets me to thinking of this years biggest nuisance for us ….. WASPS (the connection being that they took a shine to the Sloe Gin/Vodka). This was the first time this year we really noticed the swarms of wasps everywhere (and we’ve seen them at every wedding since then) pestering the guests, they seem to be an incredible pain and lots of people have been stung (my first aid kit I carry in the car with antihistamines, antihistamine cream and pain killers has never been so well used!). Sorry I’ve become side-tracked, back to talking about their wedding day ….
Hannah looked beautiful in her lace dress and Carl looked equally handsome in his suit whilst their girls looked so cute and pretty in their little flowergirl outfits
This was a fab day to be a part of and we wish Hannah and Carl a lifetime of happiness ahead of them. We can’t wait to design their photobook with them soon. Here’s a very small selection of photos from their day to have a look at
